What's in a Name?
My mother, who was born in 1914, was named Sarah. As a first generation American she wanted to Americanize her name and changed from the biblical Sarah to the modern Shirley, which was how she was known for the next 50+ years. Interestingly enough, during the last decade there haven`t been many baby girls named Shirley....but there are a multitude of Sarah`s and Sara`s. Wonder what Mom would make of this? Would she reclaim Sarah as her very own?
