Rabbi Lefkowitz conducts first service

 

In 1944 NBC radio broadcast nationwide the first Jewish service conducted in occupied Germany after the start of WW II.My uncle, Rabbi Sidney Lefkowitz, an Army chaplain, conducted this moving service, under gunfire.
