The curator of Creating American Jews was Karen S. Mittelman, who also served as an exhibit historian at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution. She has a Ph.D from the University of Pennsylvania. The exhibition designer was James Sims of Threshold Studio in Alexandria, Virginia, whose FIELD TO FACTORY: AFRO-AMERICAN MIGRATION, 1915-1940, was awarded in 1993 the "Best Exhibition" prize by the Smithsonian Institution.
