There might have been times when I did not come right out and say that I was Jewish. I was brought up in a small town where there was a small enclave of Jews. They were in the ritzier section. We went to shul there. I went to an Orthodox Hebrew school there. My neighborhood wasn't Jewish, it was a mixed neighborhood. Most of my good friends, the ones that I really had a connection with, were Jewish. They almost had to be in order understand me properly. But the men! Honestly, I just got over a two and a half year relationship with somebody who was not Jewish and who was black. It was very interesting, it's a whole other aspect of my life, very significant too. My parents were not so happy about the relationship, not because he was black but because he wasn't Jewish. I said this to the guy, "I'm Jewish, I'm going to die Jewish and so are my kids." I feel very passionate about this, I really do. God be willing the man I marry will be Jewish. | ||
