Reform Congregation B'nai Israel
was founded in Little Rock in 1866. This building was their third synagogue,
designed by architect Charles Thompson. It was dedicated on May 9, 1897.
The keynote address was given by the founder of Reform Judaism, Isaac Mayer
Wise. This building was used as a house of worship and community center until
May 1975. Regrettably, this building has since been demolished. The pulpit
and stained glass windows from this building have been incorporated into
the new B'nai Israel synagogue.
