Reform congregation Emanu-El dedicated
the first synagogue in the Arizona Territory on October 3, 1910. This synagogue
was designed by Ely Blount and it still stands at 564 South Stone Avenue,
although Congregation Emanu-El stopped holding services here in 1949. The
building is on the National Register of Historic Places and currently houses
the Jewish Heritage Center of the Southwest.
