First organized in 1894, Temple
Sinai was designed for the Reform congregation by Ira C. Carter. Finished
in 1904, the onion domes seen here fell down in a hurricane on August 6,
1918, and were never replaced. This structure is on the National Registry
of Historic Places, still serving Lake Charles as a place of Jewish worship.
