The Commonwealth Avenue synagogue
was designed by architect Charles H. Blackhall. Dedicated September 1, 1907,
it served Reform congregation Adath Israel until 1973, when it was sold to
Boston University. It was renamed Morse Auditorium, in honor of a longtime
Temple Israel family.
