St. Louis's first Reform congregation,
Temple Israel's second building in Holy Corners was designed by architects
Hayes, Barnett and Barnett. Its cornerstone was laid September 22, 1907,
and dedicated September 18, 1908. Built to resemble the temple of Vespasian,
the building was sold to the St. Louis Board of Education in 1966. The structure
is still used by the Board today.
