Congregation B'nai Jeshurun was
designed by an architect named Hubert. The groundbreaking ceremony was held
July 30, 1867, and the synagogue was dedicated August 28, 1868. This second
congregation building stood at 224 Washington Street in Newark. The congregation
moved to Short Hills after World War II.
