Kahal Kodesh Beth Elohim was incorporated
in 1749. The synagogue seen here is Beth Elohim's second building, dedicated
in 1841. Reminiscent of a Greek Doric temple, the building plan was drawn
by architects Tappan and Noble, and the work was supervised by designer Cyrus
Warner. Beth Elohim was one of the first congregations to join the Union
of American Hebrew Congregations in 1873. The congregation continues to
hold Reform services today.
