Visitor Policies

Security & Restrictions

For your safety, the Museum has various security measures in place that may lengthen the time it takes you to enter the building; please factor extra time into your visit for this purpose.

All individuals must pass through metal detectors; reduce your wait time by leaving unnecessary metal items (belts, key rings, jewelry, etc.) at home.

All bags (including cameras and laptops) are subject to X-ray inspection; bags bigger than 16” x 24” CANNOT be accommodated, and are not permitted.

Outside food and beverages, tripods/monopods, and all blades, firearms, and other weapons are prohibited. We may confiscate or ask you to discard any inappropriate items, and we have the right to refuse admission to anyone not conforming to these rules.

Coatroom

Complimentary coat check is available on a first-come, first-served basis. (The coatroom is small, so please do not bring large bags or packages that are unnecessary).

We reserve the right to refuse items and are not responsible for items held by the coatroom.

Exhibition Restrictions

For the safety of our collection and the enjoyment of other visitors, the following are not allowed within exhibition areas: food, drink, or gum; photography or recording of any kind (with or without flash); pens or markers (please use pencils only); and talking on cell phones (ringers should also be off). Backpacks, large bags, and wet umbrellas or coats are also prohibited and should be checked in our coatroom. Strollers are permitted unless otherwise indicated.

Tours

Free guided tours (60 minutes) are offered most weekdays between 12:00 & 12:30; availability is subject to change, however, so check the sign over the Admissions Desk on the day of your visit for confirmed times. Space on these tours is very limited; interested visitors must secure tour badges from the Membership Desk to guarantee a spot, which are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. (Please note that admission tickets do not include tour access.) These tours are not open to groups; groups interested in private tours must reserve in advance through Group Sales.

No free guided tours are currently offered on weekends; individuals and other parties interested in guided tours on Saturdays or Sundays (or at alternative times during the week) may book them in advance through Group Sales.
