To celebrate our current special exhibition, Sara Berman’s Closet, NMAJH will be hosting Intentionality in Identity: An Open Mic Night, made for teens, by teens. We’re inviting Philadelphia’s high school age students to an evening of teen performances, open discussion, and light refreshments.

The story of Sara Berman is one of defining identity, reshaping it, and deliberately designing one’s presence in the world. Philly teens are encouraged to find inspiration in the exhibit and in their own gallery of personal experiences to create and recite their own spoken word, poetry, prose, song, and other writings.

BONUS! Both performers and spectators are challenged to arrive to the event dressed intentionally. What manner of dress best portrays your sense of being?

Make sure to use your STAMP app to visit Sara Berman’s Closet before the Open Mic!

Presented in partnership with the STAMP Teen Council and the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.
