We are thrilled that the Museum will now be known as the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Stuart Weitzman. Our thanks to Stuart, our board, all of our benefactors, and all of YOU—thank you for supporting us and sticking with us. Many of you have been asking about the Museum’s reopening date. We’re so excited YOU’RE excited but we don’t have a date…yet!

While we’re strategizing behind the scenes, we’ll continue to bring you original live programming online, artifacts and stories across our social media channels almost every day of the week, virtual exhibitions, remote school and group experiences, enticing merchandise from one of the best curated online museum stores around, and incredible event space overlooking Historic Independence Mall. Keep scrolling for all of the details.

We will keep you posted on this page, through our e-newsletter (sign up here), and via social media.

Thank you for supporting us! When we filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy code on March 1, 2020, we couldn’t have known that the world would shutdown on March 13 because of the global pandemic. The combination of the two created doubly unexpected challenges, but we pivoted to all virtual operations and are now looking forward to reopening our galleries to the public. Thank you for sticking with us and thanks to all of our generous supporters for getting us to the other side.
